Although you may see the terms carpet mites and carpet beetles used interchangeably these two pests are actually quite different.

Carpet mites more commonly referred to as dust mites or straw itch mites are tiny microscopic bugs that dwell within your carpet clothing bedding and anywhere else they find refuge. Most are harmless to overall health but they cause tiny bites which can be bothersome. While carpet beetles don t bite or feed on humans their larvae can irritate the skin.
